Intramural Fields

On the west side of Coliseum Drive the proposed plan calls for a landscaped pedestrian entrance on the Johnston Street side of Blackham and a new, enlarged barn that replaces existing agriculture buildings. Proposed gardens for this side of Coliseum Drive include wildflower planting along the coulee and an extensive Labyrinth Garden for the area between the fraternity houses and the existing buildings at the corner of Cajundome Boulevard and Souvenir Gate. This garden includes a number of fountains surrounded by maze-like trails with built-up areas providing limited views of the garden layout. The interior design of this labyrinth is defined by an existing paved parking lot for the fraternity houses.

The Cajundome is enhanced by an extension of the new Convention Center. Parking options are expanded through the addition of a parking tower on the West Congress side of the facility. New landscaping and trees surround the parking tower, and a proposed pedestrian underpass connects the prairie side of the project to the wetlands side.
