Neglect to the neighborhoods has caused fragmented housing districts and loosely defined commercial areas to emerge. The Workshop recommends infilling vacant neighborhood properties with three new housing types indigenous to this area. Pocket parks could be placed within this area and serve a civic gathering areas and children's recreational areas. Clearer zoning guidelines need to by adopted so that residential areas can be protected, and commercial areas defined into traditional shopping streets. The F. E. "Pa" Davis park extension would allow pedestrians and automobiles easier access into this area.
